Psalms 37:3-7 NASB - Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. Delight yourself in the LORD; and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will do it. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.
Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart. THIS. IS. IT.
God isn’t a mean, old deity out here forcing His subjects to serve Him … He is a LOVING CREATOR Who has created each of us to be WITH HIM.
He knows us better than we know ourselves & He knows the deepest, truest, purest DESIRES of our heart.
And HE IS ABLE to fulfill those desires of our heart … and He wants to do just that!
But He won’t force you to choose Him. Some of us choose to chase our own delight on our own terms … trying to fulfill what we think the desires of our heart are on our own.
We even buy into the lie that following God means giving up what we WANT to do for what we “should” do … LIE!
We are often tempted & deceived by the desires of our FLESH … mistaking these selfish desires as the desires of our heart … LIE!
God IS the true desire of our heart! … when we follow Him we find Him! … TRUTH!
When we CHOOSE TO FOLLOW GOD we discover that:
He made us for a PURPOSE.
His Presence brings us true LOVE, JOY & PEACE.
He KNOWS us & we can KNOW HIM.
Following Him will lead us to the fulfillment of the TRUE DESIRE of our heart … to KNOW HIM.
It is our choice and we get to make that choice every day … follow God or follow self?
The desires of the flesh lead to frustration, anxiety, hurt, disappointment, failure, betrayal, chaos … and ultimately death.
Following God leads us to love, joy, peace, purpose, hope, fulfillment, comfort … and ultimately eternal abundant LIFE.
The ultimate, deepest desire of each & every one of our hearts is to KNOW GOD and to be WITH HIM … and He PROMISES to fulfill that desire!
