Ephesians 2:1-10 NASB - And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Life and Death.

• The simplest and must succinct description of our time here on Earth!

• We tend to think of these two concepts from a limited, physical-only perspective too often.

Life is more than a beating heart and lungs full of oxygen … LIFE IS BEING WITH GOD.

• We were created to be WITH GOD.

• We are more than skin & bones … God breathed His Breath into our souls that we may EXPERIENCE HIM.

Death is more than a stopped heart and lack of brain waves … DEATH IS SEPARATION FROM GOD.

• God told Adam to eat from any tree in the Garden but the tree of the knowledge of good and evil … if he did eat from that tree he would “surely DIE”.

• We chose sin over obedience, choosing to worship our self over Our God … we chose SEPARATION FROM GOD.

BUT GOD was not done! … I love this quick History summation in Ephesians 2 … we were all separated from God by our sin BUT GOD overflowing with Mercy & Love MADE US ALIVE in Christ.

• God sent Jesus to make it possible for us to be WITH HIM again! … just as we were Created to be!

And this LIFE that we can now live WITH HIM is a life of intimate Purpose!

• God was intimately involved in your very own design and creation! … THE God of the universe considers you His workmanship!

• And He designed and created you for a PURPOSE … for His Purpose!

• You were designed in such a way, born at such a time, and currently reside in such a place SO THAT you can participate in a uniquely-prepared-just-for-you portion of God’s Will … and do it WITH HIM!

Go. Do. It.

He gave us Life. We chose Death. He offers us Life again. Which will you choose today?
