9/10/2025 Daily Devotion: Come To Him

Isaiah 55:1-13 NASB -  (the LORD says) "Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance. Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David. Behold, I have made him a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples. Behold, you will call a nation you do not know, and a nation which knows you not will run to you, because of the LORD your God, even the Holy One of Israel; for He has glorified you." Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the LORD, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy and be led forth with peace; the mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn bush the cypress will come up, and instead of the nettle the myrtle will come up, and it will be a memorial to the LORD, for an everlasting sign which will not be cut off."

I love Isaiah 55 because it is a beautiful testament to what our life can be … what God desires for us.

Without God … we spend our life chasing after things that do not & will not satisfy us.

  • But we are drawn to this life! We are drawn to a life without God by our self who wants to be like God.

  • The author of Hebrews tells us that sin clings so close to us … we cannot completely remove ourselves from the influence, draw, and battle within that sin brings … but we can experience HIS VICTORY over it!

Our souls can only find TRUE LIFE when we listen to God and COME TO HIM.

  • When we forsake our selfish ways and COME TO HIM … He Graciously & Compassionately accepts us!

  • He is always right there with us. He is always right there inviting us to COME TO HIM … it is always our choice whether we go to Him or not!

  • When we choose to COME TO HIM, we find LIFE and we find it ABUNDANTLY in Him!

When we step into Relationship with God we discover that HE IS GOD and we are not. Full stop.

  • His Thoughts are above & beyond our thoughts.

  • His Ways are above & beyond our ways.

  • He is above & beyond us … BUT He has made a Way for us to still be WITH HIM! (Pssst … it’s Jesus. Jesus is that Way.)

His Ways ALWAYS accomplish His Will.

  • When we join Him in His Ways (which He has called us to do!), we will see His Will accomplished IN & THROUGH us!

  • When we do His Will … His Fruit will be produced.

  • When we do His Will … His Purpose will be accomplished.

  • When we do His Will … His Success will be realized.

His Will results in JOY & PEACE for us and Glory for Him … always & forever!

  • He PROMISES Joy & Peace to you & me when we choose to COME TO HIM!

Choose Him -> His Ways -> His Will -> Abundant Life

Amen! I shared verses 6-12 with about 150 Middle School FCA students last week. The promise of joy and peace in verse 12 is a great one to take Him up on. Engage with Him in His Word and see what happens!
