8/27/2025 Daily Devotion: Recipe For Peace

Philippians 4:4-9 NASB - Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.

Do you have PEACE in your life?

• It is God’s Will for your life that you experience HIS PEACE in everything!

• He tells us that His Peace is available to us … so if we aren’t experiencing it, how do we find it? … He tells us that too!

REJOICE in Him always.

• We get distracted by the things of this world. Success. Possessions. Acceptance. … These all make up the pursuit of happiness that countries are literally founded upon!

• But happiness is not JOY … happiness is based on our circumstance & surrounding, influenced and determined by what is happening to us.

• Joy is available regardless of our circumstance & surrounding, influenced and determined by WHO IS WITH US. (Hint: It’s God!)

• The foundation of HIS PEACE is finding our Joy IN HIM and not chasing happiness in other sources.

• KNOWING GOD produces Joy in us.

When challenges come … HUMBLY turn to God with GRATITUDE and talk WITH Him about it.

• Anxiety comes when we fear an unknown outcome … anxiety & Peace cannot coexist in the same heart at the same time.

• When we take our fears to God, He will rarely make an unknown outcome known … so how does this help our anxiety?

• He is Trustworthy … we take our fears to Him and are able to TRUST HIM to work it all out for our good … if you don’t Trust God, it is because you do not KNOW God. (Return to the previous step!)

The PEACE OF GOD will not make sense, it is beyond our understanding … but it is AVAILABLE to you and to me!

• The Peace of God frees us up from the weight of fear, anxiety & pressure to get it all right.

• This FREEDOM allows us to recognize God’s Goodness in our lives & to FOLLOW and OBEY His calling on our lives.
