7/9/25 Daily Devotion: Life Got Busy ...

Haggai 1:9 - “You looked for much, and behold, it came to little. And when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why? declares the LORD of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house.”

The Temple of God was in ruins. Almost 20 years earlier, a group of Israelites had returned to Jerusalem from Babylonian exile with one purpose … REBUILD GOD’s TEMPLE.

• But … they met some very quick opposition and had gotten discouraged and then discouragement turned into distraction and here they were … living their lives in complete oblivion to GOD’s CALLING ON THEIR LIFE.

Life got busy. They needed to make a living. Bills needed paid. Networking needed done. Comfort needed maintained. Risk needed avoided. Life needed managed … BY THEM.

• Enter Haggai & Zechariah … prophets sent by God to RE-ENGAGE His people in HIS WORK!

What consumes your day each day? Would you say you are more busy managing your own life under your own power or MANAGING GOD’s WILL FOR YOUR LIFE THROUGH HIS POWER?

• Have you been discouraged by doing His Work?

• Have you been distracted from doing His Work?

In my best Haggai voice … RE-ENGAGE IN GOD’s WORK today! Don't wait for a New Year to become resolute ... DO IT today!

• Commit to daily Bible time.

• Find & follow multiple Bible based podcasts/messages.

• Volunteer to serve at your church.

• Listen to Worship music regularly.

• Ask Him to reveal HIS PURPOSE for your life .. and go DO IT.

There is a God ... He is REAL.

He Loves you so very much.

He has intentionally designed & carefully created you ... for a PURPOSE.

You can KNOW this Purpose by KNOWING Him!

You can DO this Purpose by FOLLOWING Him!

If you aren't ... then you should!
