7/7/25 Daily Devotion: Salvation Is More Than Heaven

Isaiah 6:3-7 - “3 And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a burning coal that he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 And he touched my mouth and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away, and your sin atoned for.”

I love the picture of Salvation that Isaiah gives us here in Isaiah 6.

• Sometimes, we try to make Salvation too quick, easy & simple in an effort to make it more “doable” for more people … if we can just get them to repeat this prayer after us then they’ll be in Heaven forever!

• Wrong process AND wrong goal!

Isaiah shows us FOUR STEPS in a true Salvation encounter:

STEP ONE: Holy, Holy, Holy Is The Lord!

• It starts with GOD … it always starts with God!

• All Salvations start with an ENCOUNTER with God … a recognition & realization of WHO HE IS.

• He. Is. Holy. … Perfect. Pure. Glorious. Worthy … this must be understood & known for us to be saved!

• (We are tempted to present salvation as a solution to our own needs & struggles … “you don’t feel good? Here, God can fix that” … start with WHO GOD IS!)

STEP TWO: Woe Is Me! For I Am Lost!

• The natural next step from recognizing the Truth of HE IS HOLY is …. I AM NOT!

• A proper understanding of WHO GOD IS will lead to a proper understanding of who we are … and we are LOST without Him.

• We must each come face to face with our own GUILT, admit it & own it … CONFESS it to Him, call it what it is. It is SIN and it is our own fault and it makes us unclean and unable to be WITH GOD.

STEP THREE: Your Guilt Is Gone. Your Sins Atoned For.

• Jesus’ death on a cross has fully PAID for all of your sinful transgressions!

• Your guilt isn’t just wiped away, like it never happened … it was PAID IN FULL by Jesus’ Perfect Sacrifice!

• This was the ONLY way that God’s Holiness could welcome our woefulness to be WITH HIM … Jesus PAID IT ALL.

STEP FOUR: Here I Am! Send Me.

• Simply thinking Jesus died on the cross for your sins does not SAVE you.

• Putting your FAITH in Him by TRUSTING Him with your life and FOLLOWING Him is what Jesus being LORD of your life means.

• Jesus died for your sins and RESURRECTED for your Life! … He Lives and is calling you to FOLLOW HIM.

The goal of Salvation was never meant to be going to Heaven … it is to KNOW GOD fully by living out our life WITH HIM.
