Daniel 3:17-18 - “17 If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.””
If you want to have your faith strengthened & encouraged, study the lives of Daniel & his friends! I have always loved the FAITH of Shadrach, Meshach & Abednego here in Daniel 3 …
Along with Daniel, these three men had been captured in a siege on their homeland & whisked away to Babylon to serve King Nebuchadnezzar in his kingdom.
They had seen God grow them in knowledge, favor & influence within this foreign land … He had shown His Faithfulness to them through their faithfulness to Him.
Ultimately, their FAITH IN GOD and commitment to Him (and Him alone!) brought persecution to them from the King … who wanted that commitment & praise for himself!
Shadrach, Meshac & Abednego were committed to being FAITHFUL TO GOD above all else. This commitment was able to carry them through their trials because it was forged & established BEFORE their trials began.
You will not be Faithful to God in the face of opposition if you are not Faithful to God in peaceful seasons of tranquility.
This interaction of our TRIALS & our FAITH is really what defines our lives, no?
We often look at our Faith as some outside agent that we apply to the constant force of our trials when we need it … we hang on & power through as much as we can on our own and then apply the Faith card when we are desperate enough …
But I challenge you to look at your Faith as the constant force of your life that your trials are being applied to!
Shadrach, Meshac & Abednego had a FAITH IN GOD that was not dependent on the outcome of their trial.
Their Faith existed before their trial.
Their Faith continued through their trial.
Their Faith was strengthened by their trial.
They believed in the ULTIMATE POWER of God to save them but did not require God to use that Power in order for them to FOLLOW HIM IN FAITH.
Let your Faith be your reality … the FOUNDATION on which your whole life is built.
May your Faith be strengthened & encouraged today!
