6/4/2025 Daily Devotion: Be Like Jesus

Mark 1:35-38 - “35 And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. 36 And Simon and those who were with him searched for him, 37 and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.” 38 And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.”

Jesus MADE TIME to communicate with God.

• Think about that. Jesus (Who actually CREATED TIME) INTENTIONALLY PRIORITIZED carving out dedicated time to PRAY with God.

• This time WITH GOD kept Jesus in tune with when, where, how & why God wanted Him to go.

• Jesus modeled LIFE for us and it is clear that Jesus PRIORITIZED PERSONAL COMMUNION WITH GOD above all … do we? How can we follow Jesus’ example in our lives?

Jesus made time & space to be with God.

• Jesus would INTENTIONALLY make time in His life to focus intently on God.

• He would rise early or stay up late. He would take whole days to step away and be with God.

• Jesus would remove Himself from the distractions of His Life … He would get ALONE WITH GOD … often!

Jesus communicated WITH God.

• Jesus prayed WITH God … not just TO God.

• Jesus expressed Himself to God and Jesus listened to God’s response.

• Jesus sought God’s Will, God’s Instruction & God’s Direction by making Himself intently available.

Jesus OBEYED God’s Direction

• Jesus came to Earth to do God’s Will … He carved out time to be WITH GOD, He spent that time communicating WITH GOD & then He lived His Life OBEDIENTLY FOLLOWING God’s Direction.

Jesus modeled life for us. Jesus showed you & me how to live life in COMMUNION WITH GOD … let’s follow His Direction!

Make time & space to be WITH GOD.

Spend that time communicating WITH GOD.

Step out in Faith to actually OBEY GOD.

Be like Jesus, purposefully live your life WITH GOD.
