6/27/25 Daily Devotion: Two Truths In Pain

1 Peter 5:6-7 - “6 Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

God. Is. In. Control.

God. Cares. For. You.

Two Truths that need to be our lifelines when we are walking through a season of suffering.

  • Suffering (and the anxieties that come with it) are guaranteed to all of us … despite what it feels like, we are never alone in our suffering!

Peter warns us that our adversary is prowling around WITHIN OUR SUFFERING … looking for who he can devour …

  • We are devoured by our sufferings when we lose sight of OUR GOD … the more focused on OUR SELF we become the weaker & shakier our Faith becomes.

  • We get a step by step look at this in the book of Job!

  • And guess what … Job’s lessons learned from his experience in suffering are exactly what Peter encourages us with here! (I love seeing New Testament truths practiced in Old Testament stories!)

  • Job learned to cast his anxieties on God because Job’s greatest AhHa! Moment was learning to HUMBLE HIMSELF in light of GOD’s MIGHTY HAND.

When we suffer, it is not our responsibility to pull ourselves out, get back on track & conquer our problems … our role is to LOOK TO GOD and recognize WHO HE REALLY IS.

  • God will restore us Himself.

  • God will confirm us Himself.

  • God will strengthen us Himself.

  • God will establish us Himself.

We resist our enemy by recognizing our God.

  • This was the result of Job’s experience … he grew to KNOW GOD MORE.

  • God revealed Himself to Job in a deeper, more intimate, closer relationship than Job had experienced before.

  • “I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you.” Job 42:5

God allowed Job to experience suffering … but God never lost control & God never stopped caring!

God. Is. In. Control.

God. Cares. For. You.

Cling to these TRUTHS and EXPERIENCE GOD in a deeper way today.
