1 John 2:3 - “And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.”

Do you OBEY God?

• When we KNOW GOD, the evidence of that relationship in our lives is found in our OBEDIENCE to God.

Practically though, what should we obey? How does God speak to us?

1. God speaks to all of us through The Bible (His Word!)

   - God has given us His Word to lay out His Foundations of life for us … His Creation of History, His Revelation of Himself to man, His Redemption of rebellious man, His Plan & Design for our lives.

   - We learn Who God is, who we are in relation to Him, what He calls us to do & how He is our source of Life in the pages of Scripture.

   - The TRUTH of the Bible applies to all of mankind ever.

2. God speaks to each of us individually through His Spirit in us.

   - His Spirit nudges, tugs & wallops us upside the head from within!

   - His Spirit helps us to notice & act on situations within our own space & time to APPLY the Truths of Scripture.

For example:

1. The Bible tells us to love our neighbors.

2. His Spirit puts a specific name & situation on our hearts and convicts us to act.

One of the most dangerous places for Christians to settle into is an AWARENESS of God’s Word but an APATHY/IGNORANCE towards His Spirit.

• We can become very good at explaining away His Spirit’s tugs & pulls and create a habit of DISOBEDIENCE.

Say YES to His Spirit! Stack a few Yeses together and marvel at what God does in & through your life!
