Joshua 24:14-15 - 14 “Now therefore fear the LORD and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness. Put away the gods that your fathers served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. 15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
God will always let you choose.
And we always have the same choice as the Israelites did … SERVE GOD or serve something else as a god in your life.
Our gods today may be shaped & named differently but their effect on our life when we CHOOSE to elevate them over God is the same!
Does any part of your life out rank God in your life?
Career, bank account, ideology, government, family, kids sports schedules, your favorite sports team, comfort, religion, success, happiness, adulation, your self?
How do we recognize if we are serving one of these things in our lives instead of SERVING GOD?
What shapes & impacts your attitude each day?
Is your temperament controlled by anything on that list more than your relationship with your Heavenly Father?
Are you chasing happiness or strengthened by the JOY OF THE LORD?
What influences the decisions that you make each day?
WHY do you do anything that you do?
Are you leaning on your own desires & understandings? … or CONSIDERING GOD in all of your ways?
What is the last thing that you did solely because it was what God wanted you to do?!
What makes you feel safe & secure?
A job? A paycheck? Support of others? Health of you & your loved ones? Your government party of choice in power? A retirement plan? Being busy? Self-confidence? … or GOD HIMSELF?
We tend to talk a good game about God … but then live our life out in total dependence on these other little g gods around us … do we actually, truly TRUST, OBEY & SERVE OUR GOD?
God will always let us choose for ourselves whom we will serve … and He is always right there for us to choose!
Do you need to clean out your home & your heart of these little gods that have crept in? … Declare like Joshua that YOU CHOOSE TO SERVE THE LORD TODAY!
