5/6/2025 Daily Devotion: He Is

Exodus 3:14 - “God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And he said, “Say this to the people of Israel: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

God says “I AM”.

• God introduces Himself to His people as I AM. The people of Israel had not heard from God as a people … He had been with Abraham, Isaac & Jacob individually but now He was revealing himself to their entire nation … His first message? I AM REAL.

• God also said I AM ABLE. He tells His people that He has heard their cries, He has seen their plight … and He PROMISES to set them free! (And then He does just that!)

The Bible says “HE IS”.

• God sent Moses to reveal Himself to the Israelites in Egypt … God has sent Scripture to reveal Himself to us. … and it tells the same Message!

• HE IS REAL! The Old Testament shows us how God revealed Himself to the world through His People … we see His Holiness and His Desire to commune in relationship WITH US … we also see our inability to do this on our own. The New Testament reveals God’s Plan of Redemption for us through Jesus’ Life, Death & Resurrection making it possible for us to personally & intimately ACCESS HIM directly … and now we are able to live our lives WITH GOD.

• HE IS ABLE! The Bible reveals to us the Promises of God … He Promises to give us the TRUE DESIRES OF OUR HEART. He Promises to give us Love, Joy, Hope & Peace! He Promises to work ALL THINGS together for our good … when we follow Him.

Will you say “YOU ARE”?

• GOD IS REAL … do you BELIEVE it? Do you truly believe that He is Who He says He is? Hebrews 11 tells us that the first step of Faith is to BELIEVE that God exists. Do you believe in God as He has revealed Himself or do you believe in a god of your own creation … a god who makes you feel comfortable & unchallenged?

• God today is the same God of the Bible … you can KNOW HIM now! Jesus made it possible for you to approach God in Him! Jesus said that eternal life is KNOWING GOD … and that is why He came!

• GOD IS ABLE … do you TRUST HIM? Do you believe that God actually rewards those who FOLLOW HIM … or are you more comfortable “controlling” your life yourself? Hebrews 11:6 tells us that TRUE SAVING FAITH is not only believing that God exists but TRUSTING Him enough to actually FOLLOW HIM through this life. Do you?

God has revealed Himself to the World … but gives each individual the chance to choose Him … do you BELIEVE Him? Do you TRUST Him?

God says I AM. The Bible says HE IS. Will you say YOU ARE?
