5/26/2025 Daily Devotion: Give Up. Give To. Be Blessed.

Acts 20:35 - “In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Jesus calls us to a life of SACRIFICE … a life of GIVING over receiving.
We know this to be true (every parent has passed this truth on to our kids at Christmas time, right?) … but our flesh sure does like receiving!
If we truly asses our life … do we find more supply or more demand from us? Are we producing more or consuming more?
Jesus uses SACRIFICE as a way to define LOVE.
For God so LOVED the world that He GAVE His only Son … (John 3:16)
Greater LOVE has no man than this, that he GIVE his life for his friends … (John 15:13)
We are commanded to Love God and to Love others … so we are commanded to SACRIFICE our selves to God and for others!
Step One: GIVE your self to God
Paul urges us in Romans 12:1-2 to present our selves as LIVING SACRIFICES to God … this is how you truly Worship Him!
We are called to give ALL OF OUR SELF to God.
We LOVE God by giving up our own will to OBEY His Will in our life.
Who influences more of your decisions on any given day … God or your self?
Step Two: GIVE your self for Others
Paul tells us to WORK HARD at helping the weak!
The rest of Romans 12 shows us that we have all been designed uniquely SO THAT we can serve uniquely!
You have strengths, talents, skills & gifts … are you using your strengths to fill gaps for others?
Is helping others the FOCUS of your life or an occasional excursion?
Step Three: Be BLESSED
This is the same BLESSED as Jesus uses in all of the Beatitudes in Matthew 5 … it is defined as “happy”, not the circumstance driven human definition but the GODLY JOY found in Him definition.
Jesus is saying that TRUE CONTENTMENT & FULFILLMENT IN GOD is found in giving!
When we sacrifice our self in service to God and for others … life is BETTER for us!
Give up your self to God. Give of your self to others. Be Blessed in God.
GIVE up.
GIVE to.
Be BLESSED.
