5/19/2025 Daily Devotion: Don't Test ... TRUST!

Judges 6:14 - “And the LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours and save Israel from the hand of Midian; do not I send you?”

Sometimes it is really difficult for us to just TRUST God. A lack of Trust in God will produce a lack of CONFIDENCE in His Calling.

• This is the story of Gideon found in Judges 6-8. Gideon was CHOSEN BY GOD to bring the Israelites victory over their oppressors … but Gideon didn’t know that!

God’s Message: “I am WITH YOU. My Presence brings you My Power. Use My Power in you to go save Israel. I am God. I am sending you. I am WITH YOU.”

Gideon’s Response: “Prove it.” 😬

• This should sound VERY familiar to us … we say this all the time!

• “God, show me a sign! … Yeah, yeah, I’ll follow you, I just need to make complete sure that I hear you right … wouldn’t want to do the wrong thing, that’s for sure … so just make it OBVIOUS that I should do this … and then, probably a good idea if you would then make that obviousness extra obvious with another sign of proof … we want to be sure …”

TRUST. GOD!

• Now … in order to Trust God, we must KNOW GOD.

• Often, our challenge in stepping out in Faith to FOLLOW HIM is that we have not spent enough time with Him to recognize His Voice clearly!

• Gideon had not spent time with God, he did not see God’s Works around him … he had heard of God but had not truly EXPERIENCED Him yet … is that you?

God was Faithful & Gracious to Gideon by providing him the signs that he needed to follow Him … but do not mistake God’s Grace as a prescription for you & I to always test God’s Call on our life.

• Don’t read the story of Gideon and look for ways to TEST GOD … read the story of Gideon and look for ways to TRUST GOD!

The LORD GOD is with you. Step out in HIS POWER in you and FOLLOW HIM into His Calling in your life.

• You don’t need to test Him … TRUST HIM!
