Exodus 33:15 - “And he said to him, “If your presence will not go with me, do not bring us up from here.”
I believe Exodus 33 shows us God’s Perfect Design for our relationship WITH HIM.
Moses exhibits the deepest desire of each one of our hearts … how God created us to be.
God created you and me to KNOW HIM.
THE SCENE:
The Israelites had been slaves in Egypt for hundreds of years.
God heard their cries and sent Moses to have Egypt set His People FREE. God PROMISES a land that He has prepared for and will deliver to them … His Promised Land to them.
They miraculously escape the Egyptians when God parts the Red Sea, destroying the Egyptian army in the process.
Moses goes up Mt. Sinai and receives from God the Ten Commandments and other instructions on how God’s people are to interact with their God.
When he returns, Moses finds the people worshipping a golden calf idol of their own creation …
Exodus 33:
God’s response? “Take the people, go to the Promised Land … I will still deliver it to you, but I won’t be with you”
God had PROMISED them their own land full of prosperity, provision & opportunity … and He would still give them that BUT He would not go WITH THEM.
What would you say if God offered you the life you had always dreamed of … guaranteed success, wealth, provisions & luxury … BUT He would not be there … ?
Moses’ response: “If You are not with us, I don’t want to be there. This desert mountain WITH YOU is better than Paradise without You. … Show me MORE OF YOU.”
Moses had EXPERIENCED GOD enough to know that His Presence was the real Promised Land.
Moses didn’t let the Provisions of God distract him from the Presence of God!
God has called you and me to our own Promise Lands of PURPOSE … He has prepared a life of Faith for us to FOLLOW HIM to & through … don’t let your Calling, your Mission or your Purpose supersede GOD’s PRESENCE with you in your life.
God’s Greatest Promise to you is HIMSELF. Seek Him and His Glory … don’t let His Provisions distract you from HIS PRESENCE.
