5/1/2025 Daily Devotion: From God, To You, For Others

Colossians 1:24-25 - “24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church, 25 of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known,”

Paul saw his ministry as a calling FROM GOD given personally TO HIM … FOR OTHERS.

• Paul is not unique in this … we should do the same!

We each have a calling directly FROM GOD.

• The Creator God of all the universe has things that He wants YOU to do!

• These things He has for you to do are not just rules to follow to keep you compliant as his earth-dwelling servant … God desires that you & I JOIN HIM in working out His Will for humanity!

• God has a plan to work IN US to grow & develop us to become LIKE JESUS … AND God has a plan to work THROUGH US to draw others to relationship with Him … all for His Perfect Glory!

This calling has been personally designed for and given TO US.

• Our callings are designed uniquely for us AND we have been uniquely designed for our callings!

• God designed you purposefully … He’s knit you together with a wholly unique combination of skills, talents, gifts, desires & personality and sent you a likewise unique set of influences & experiences to shape & refine you … SO THAT you would be prepared to step out in Faith and join Him in the execution of His Will!

• Paul saw his calling as something he was responsible for STEWARDING … his life given to him to manage WITH GOD.

This calling will always be to service FOR OTHERS.

• We have been uniquely & lovingly designed & developed by God FOR GOOD WORKS … these Good Works will always involve some form of SERVING OTHERS.

• This is how God works THROUGH us!

• We can get distracted by personal development, theological study & a personal relationship with God (ALL GOOD THINGS!) and lose sight of His personal call on us to be personal ourselves.

You have a specific calling FROM GOD, given personally TO YOU, to provide a unique service TO OTHERS … are you DOING IT?
